10 Tips for Healthy & Happy Feet.

We rely on our feet more than we think. Keeping your feet healthy should be a part of your routine. It is essential for continued mobility. Clients with chronic health conditions like diabetes and oncology should take extra care of their feet. Here are some important tips to help you keep your feet in good working order!

1. Examine your feet weekly!

Check for cuts, sores, blisters, swelling, color changes of the skin (could mean the skin is damaged), discoloration on the nails (could be a sign of nail fungus), peeling in between the toes, and scaling on the bottom of your feet (could be signs of athlete's feet).

2. Wash your feet daily!

Make sure to clean in between the toes. Sometimes kiddos and older people who have difficulty remembering or moving miss this step.

3. Dry the feet very well after bathing!

Remember to get in between the toes. Leaving moisture in between the toes can contribute to the athlete's foot.

4. Trim toenails correctly!

Always cut straight across and file your toenails in one direction to prevent tears. Never cut the corners of your toenails, which can lead to ingrown toenails.

5. Smooth Calluses!

Use a high-quality, stainless-steel foot file to exfoliate and smooth dry, cracked, rough calluses.

6. Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!

Use a foot cream on your feet to help with dry, cracked, or scaly heels. Footlogic Double Defense Cream or cracked heel formula is fantastic.

7. Wear properly fitting shoes!

Shoes that are too tight can cause many problems, including the potential for foot deformities. Allow enough room to wiggle your toes!

8. Change shoes frequently!

Spray shoes with shoe deodorant and alternate different pairs of shoes daily. Always keep your shoes in good shape.

9. Wear clean socks every day.

Wearing socks that keep your feet dry will help to keep your feet healthy. If your feet sweat, then you should change them twice a day.

10. When walking or standing, remember to distribute your weight evenly on both feet whenever possible.
